Heres a little poem that came out while I was thinking about what my faith means to me. It's pretty bad but it has heart.
Unashamed how can one be so?
when the need is so great and we are so slow?
But for Christ I wouldn't know
or sorrow and weep or willingly go
out to the world and try to bring
to the suffering masses the song that I sing.
Would I have an eye for my brother in need
had he not come by to fill me indeed?
No I would just sit like a lump on the shelf
purely content to satisfy self.
Now I suffer for Christ, the one who is blamed
for all of my weakness. Am I unashamed?

Be still - rewrite
Be still, o beating heart
do not in fear from life depart
mighty are the arms that wait
to carry you from fate to fate
Be still, o hand as you grip
weapons haft at trembling hip
mighty were His hands and still
received two nails on Calvary hill.
Be firm, o legs upon the ground
before the lion's charging bound
mighty was the trembling tread
that carried torment in your stead.
Be still, o heart, as life does flow
upon the ground — to heaven go!
do not in fear from life depart
mighty are the arms that wait
to carry you from fate to fate
Be still, o hand as you grip
weapons haft at trembling hip
mighty were His hands and still
received two nails on Calvary hill.

Be firm, o legs upon the ground
before the beast's charging bound
mighty were legs that trembling trod
and carried cross on back of God.

Social Networking Dilemma
I've been a member of Mindsay only a short time. It's fascinating because I'm a techie guy and was engaging in social networking using computers back when it was done with 2400 baud modems. I knew about MySpace and everything but never really got it before. Having jumped in and tried it out, here's my reflection on the state of the nation.
The dilemma of social networking is about how to invest yourself. Do you view it as a business venture to gain marketing points? Or do you view it as a network of soul-mates waiting to be tapped. In the first case the danger is to be shallow and self serving. In the second the danger is to invest yourself too much and get swept away. I can see how easy it is to get drawn in so that slowly the desire to please others and to be well liked take over and personal freedom is quietly snuffed.
In a sense it comes down to being compelled or propelled. Does social networking increase your freedom and well-being in life, or does it steal it away? It's ultimately all about good-things being correctly ordered. You can't let a good-thing stand in the way of a better-thing.

Who is God to you?
Is it true that the main reason people turn away from religion is because of a misconception about who God is? Here's an
interesting article that proposes that and offers a great list of the modern conceptions about who God is.
Who is God to you? Do any of these conceptions strike home for you?
